I am not a person of adventure. Things like bungee jump or skydiving would never appear in my bucket list. It takes me a while to make up my mind to try skiing. Skiing is still an adventure activity in my eye, but since more and more friends are doing it, I decided to at least try it once during my life.
We started with only staying in the practice area. Luckily that I had rollerblades as my PE elective subject during my second year in high school, I can still feel the sense of balance while maintaining control and stability on skis. However, it is still a challenge to me not only physically, but also mentally. You might be able to tell from my position that is always in snowplow stance. The snowplow is a fundamental technique for beginner skiers, as it provides a safe and effective way to control speed and stop on gentle slopes. You just need to turn the tips of skis inward while keeping heels apart, creating a V-shaped plow shape with the skis.
A week`s time is short, my first skiing journey came to the end very soon. Skiing is a fun and exciting sport, and even beginner skiers can enjoy the thrill of being on the mountain, breathing in fresh air, and taking in the stunning views. One important lesson from this trip is that setting realistic goals could make the first experience more comfortable and fun. Even though I failed to conquer the shape turning in the easy trail, I have still make some personal progress. I developed basic skiing skills such as turning, stopping, and controlling speed. I can also navigate beginner terrain and have more confidence on simple terrain. Even though still not sure whether will try it again or not in the future.
